Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program

The Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program (NVTRP) is a Clifton-based nonprofit that helps individuals realize their highest potential by providing equine-assisted activities to people with disabilities, youth-at-risk, recovering military personnel, and others in need in an inclusive, community setting. TRINITY was brought onboard by Steve Tassi of Savills North America to consult and ultimately construct the Jean & Rick Edelman Riding Arena for NVTRP after about 9 years of being stuck in development purgatory due to various unforeseen setbacks. Two out of the three phases of work have been completed at the campus in Clifton, with the first and second phases overlapping one another. Total scope of work for phase one and two included: site work for the arena, additional parking, creation of bio-retention basins for stormwater management, landscaping, the construction of a 17,000 square foot indoor riding arena, Harbitter Education Room, rider observation area, and restrooms. With the completion of phase one and two, NVTRP plans for the new, enclosed space to allow current riders to ride year-round, regardless of the weather, and allow services to increase by 60%, eliminating the typical one year waiting list.
