Benedictine Sisters of Virginia Monastery

This major undertaking and Capital Improvement Project has been in the works for over 10 years. The project touches many important elements to this 200-acre property that has been home to the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia for 120 years. First, we are widening the main road into the campus and widening a bridge to make it safer for all the come onto the campus. The project also includes wet and dry utility systems for the entire campus. Finally, we are constructing a one story 50,000 SF facility that will become: home to 40 or more sisters. The residential sector of the facility will include a new commercial size kitchen and dining hall. Gathering / social rooms will add to the sisters’ comfort. The new chapel area will have private prayer rooms and confessional rooms, and the facility will also have office areas as well as a suite for doctors and nurses’ rooms. Additional phases will include the demolition of the current Monastery and creation of a park in its place, as well as an age-restricted multi-family housing development.
